Benchmark Test of Snapdragon S800: The result is the expectations
Since the official announcement of the Qualcomm Snapdragon processor S600 and S800, we were excited at the idea of testing a day. Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom: A smartphone with a real camera
In June 2013, Samsung officially launched the Galaxy S4 Zoom, a device that blurs the line between smartphone and compact camera. Building on the success of the Galaxy S4, the Zoom adds a 16-megapixel sensor with 10x optical zoom, a xenon flash, and a dedicated shutter button. The phone part is slightly thicker to accommodate the lens, but it still runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and features a 4.3-inch qHD Super AMOLED display.
What makes the Zoom interesting is its software integration. The camera app offers modes like Smart Mode Suggest, which recommends the best settings based on the scene. You can also use optical zoom while recording video. However, the device is not for everyone: the processor is a dual-core 1.5 GHz chip, less powerful than the Snapdragon 600 in the Galaxy S4, and the battery is only 2330 mAh. Overall, it is a niche product for photography enthusiasts who want a single gadget.
We covered earlier in April 2013 the announcement of the Galaxy S4, which set a high bar. The Zoom is a different beast, but its camera prowess is undeniable.
Android 4.2.2 update begins rolling out to HTC One
HTC started pushing the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update to the unlocked HTC One in late June 2013. The update brings several improvements, including a percentage battery indicator, a quick settings toggle in the notification shade, and enhanced BlinkFeed customization. Users in Europe and Asia were among the first to receive the over-the-air update, with carrier versions expected to follow in July.
The update also fixes some bugs reported by early adopters, such as the camera's low-light performance and occasional UI stutters. It is a welcome step for HTC, which had promised timely updates for its flagship. The HTC One, with its 4.7-inch 1080p display and Snapdragon 600, remains one of the best Android phones of 2013, and this update keeps it competitive.

Sony Xperia ZR: A water-resistant mid-ranger with flagship power
Sony released the Xperia ZR in June 2013, positioning it as a more affordable alternative to the Xperia Z while retaining its signature water resistance. The ZR is IP58 certified, meaning it can be submerged in up to 1.5 meters of water for 30 minutes. It features a 4.55-inch 720p display, a quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, and a 13-megapixel camera with Exmor RS sensor.
The ZR also includes a dedicated camera shutter button, which is useful for underwater shots. The battery is removable, a rarity among Sony's recent flagships, and the device comes with a charging dock. Priced around 400 euros, the Xperia ZR offers excellent value for those who need a durable smartphone without sacrificing performance. It might not have the Full HD screen of the Xperia Z, but it holds its own in daily use.

LG Optimus G Pro goes global with 5.5-inch Full HD display
After a successful launch in South Korea, LG brought the Optimus G Pro to international markets in June 2013. The phablet boasts a 5.5-inch Full HD IPS display, a Snapdragon 600 quad-core processor, and 2GB of RAM. It also features a 13-megapixel camera and a 3140 mAh battery, making it a direct competitor to the Samsung Galaxy Note 2.
One of the Optimus G Pro's standout features is its dual recording mode, which uses both the front and rear cameras to capture picture-in-picture video. The software overlay includes QSlide apps that float on the screen for multitasking. Reviews praised the device's bright display and comfortable design, though some noted that LG's custom UI was not as smooth as stock Android.
